Will The Atkins Diet Help Me Lose Weight Quickly?

The Atkins Diet was THE celebrity diet a few years ago. And you probably have head of it unless you have been living under a rock. Well, I am not going to lie to you. I did try this diet and you might be surprised to hear me say, “It really works!”. I was able to lose weight quickly with this diet. I dropped about 12 lbs in a month! What’s great with this diet was that I was able to eat all the juicy steaks, cheeses (I’m a cheese freak!)and barbequed ribs everday… WHILE I was on a diet and losing weight!

Here’s come a BUT. The reason why I eventually gave up this diet was probably the same reason why alot others have given it up too. The theory of this diet is that when you avoid all types of carbohydrates, your body are forced to use up the stored fat. Since you are eating nothing but meat, meat and even more meat everyday. It is very damaging to your body, especially your cardiovascular system. There is not much control on how much fat you are eating everyday. All those fat clogs up your arteries and I wouldn’t be surprised if I get an heart attack at 35 if I keep using this diet. There are even rumors that the original creator of this diet, DIED from a heart attack. But his family kept it a secret for obvious reasons.

Besides the major health risk, there are other things that bothered me greatly as well. Fruits were almost forbidden in this diet. As well as most veggies. Yes, I was able to lose weight quickly, but I started having constipation. My breath started to stink and I couldn’t help but fart alot. My complexion suffered too. I started getting pimples near my lips and on my back. On top of that, I missed my pasta and baked goods alot. 5 weeks into it, I’ve finally said “I’ve had enough!” and went on to search for another useful diet. And in the following month, I gained all 12 lbs back and then some.

I advise you not to attempt the Atkins diet if you want to keep your breath fresh or sanity in checked. Instead go for a more balanced diet. It might not give you such dramatic results but in the long run you will be able to keep the weight off. Isn’t it all that matters?

Lose Weight Without Actually Dieting

The first thing that you need to know is that you don’t need to starve yourself if you want to lose weight. You can eat your favorite food but within reasonable limits. The thing that you should do is change your eating habits.

People have tried all types of diets starting from low calorie diets to starving themselves, but after sometime, people just give up as it is really difficult to eat tasteless food or stay hungry to just lose those extra pounds.

Ones you give up all those diets you tend to regain those extra pounds but also manage to put in extra pounds.

Having failed in their efforts to lose weight through low calorie diet and starvation people have gone on low carbohydrate diets. Low carbohydrate diets do have its own set of advantages; people have lost weight but if the carbohydrate level falls then your body will be susceptible to serious health problems.

In your low carbohydrate diet you could have eggs, bacon etc but all within limits, what you actually need to do is to give up on bakery stuffs like biscuits, toasts etc. You should also learn to stop eating food that is rich in fats and high on sugar. You could always add milk to your low carbohydrate diet, as milk is said to help you lose weight faster.

The thing that you ought to know is that if you really want to lose those extra pounds all you need to do is eat food moderately and exercise regularly. If you start starving yourself, your body will need energy for the metabolic activities of the body, the body eats up the fat accumulated in the body, but ones all those extra fats are burned up it weaken up the body and causes serious health problems, so never starve yourself to just lose weight.

If you are fat, it will take some time for you to lose weight, but for this you have to work hard and follow a strict regime of diet i.e. you can eat your favorite foods but in smaller servings and include plenty of fruits and vegetable salads with regular exercises.

Sometimes genetic disorder may be the reason for a person to gain weight this does not mean that all the battle is lost, if you make up your mind to lose weight the best thing is to stick to your decision.

Its not just losing weight, its living a healthy and a happy life that should matter. Going in for some crash diet course and ending up with a weaker and unhealthy body will cause more harm than your actual weight problem.

Diets have become a thing of the past and today people have realized that going in for diets actually make people end up with depression and develop low self esteem, so say no to crash diets, eat healthy food and exercise regularly to not only lose weight but to also live a happy and a healthy long life.
